In recognition of achievements by members, NSPS awards the Sharon Allington Trophy, the Excellence in Photography Trophy, CAPA Excellence in Photography Medals, and a CAPA Service Award medal.
A. the Sharon Allington Trophy
Sharon Allington was one of the original NSPS members when the club was established. Sharon won a number of photographic awards including some international awards. When Sharon unfortunately passed, her husband Lawrence created a trophy for the NSPS from an award that Sharon had won in an international competition in Singapore for “best in one category”. The Sharon Allington trophy is a long-standing NSPS award for the club photographer who accumulates the most points in one category, in one club year. Congratulations to the 2024 recipients (yes, there was a tie): Steve W. and Victoria L!
B. The Excellence in Photography Trophy
The trophy for Excellence in Photography was created to honour the club photographer who has the most cumulative points in all three categories in one club year. This trophy is meant to encourage club participants to participate in more than just one category. The three stars at the top of the trophy are to symbolize the three categories, digital projection, colour prints, and monchrome prints. Congratulations to the 2024 recipient: Kathryn McGarvey!
C. Excellence in Photography Medals:
Four CAPA Excellence in Photography medals are awarded, one for the highest cumulative score in each category (digital, monochrome print and colour print) and one for the highest cumulative combined score in all categories. These beautiful medals are intended to recognize the club photographers who have achieved the highest ranking in each individual category. Congratulations to the 2024 recipients: Martin for colour prints, Kathryn for monochrome prints, Steve W. and Victoria tied for accumulating the most points in one category, and Kathryn for highest cumulative combined score!
D. Service Award
The CAPA Service award is awarded to the club member who has exhibited outstanding service to NSPS over the years. Volunteers are the backbone of our club and this award recognizes the volunteer for their numerous contributions over the years. Congratulations to the 2024 recipient: Geri B.!
