Individual Submissions
The 40th North Shore Photographic Challenge is open to any photographer who, a) resides in BC or the Yukon, or b) is a member of a BC or Yukon photographic club.
Each individual photographer may submit up to three (3) images of their own work. All images must conform to the Image Rules set out below.
All images in the Individual category will be judged in a preliminary round. Each photographer's highest-scoring image will advance to the final Challenge competition and show. Photographers will be notified of the results of both the preliminary round and the main competition.
Image Rules
1. Each submitted image must be the original work of the image maker.
2. All aspect ratios are allowed. Image dimensions: Maximum width (horizontal) 1400 pixels. Maximum height (vertical) 1050 pixels. It is recommended that at least one dimension be the maximum pixels allowed. Each image must be: in the sRGB colour space, and saved in jpg or JPG format (jpeg or JPEG file extensions won't work).
3. Any image entered in the North Shore Photographic Challenge (Club or Individual category) in previous years is disqualified.
4. An image-maker whose work is included in a club entry must not enter the same image in the Individual category.
5. While image-makers may choose any subject matter, images with ”disturbing or explicit adult content” may be disqualified at the sole discretion of the Challenge organizers.
6. Images created or modified using specific AI generative techniques such as in-painting (where AI fills in generated elements not captured by the photographer or where AI removes elements from a photograph), or out-painting (where the AI extends beyond the original boundaries of the image captured by the photographer using generated elements), will be disqualified. Whether with or without text prompts, these are not permitted for submission. The inclusion of Photoshop application features, such as Firefly’s AI Generative Fill and AI Expand cannot be contained in any competition images.
All images will be reviewed for compliance with this rule. Where there is some uncertainty as to compliance, the photographer will be requested to provide, within 48 hours of the request, the Challenge organizers with Raw files for all elements contained within the submitted image. Where the requested information is not submitted, the image will be disqualified.
7. By entering the North Shore Challenge, image-makers give North Shore Photographic Society permission to duplicate, post on-line or use their entry images to advertise and promote future North Shore Photographic Challenge events.
8. Each submitted image must be free of text, signature or other elements that identify the name of the image-maker to the viewer of the image.

Challenge medals will be awarded for single images in both the Club and Individual Category: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals for images submitted by clubs, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals for images submitted by individuals. In addition to the medal, each winner will also receive:
